With inceasing awareness of the benefits of exercises, there is a significant increase in number of people participating in some form of exercise or fitness program.May it be a self help video or a neighborhood fitness club or a state of the art gym.

While exercises provide great health benefits, they also are a common cause for problems like:

  • Musculoskeletal injuries like muscle/ligament strains
  • Increase in pre-existing joint, muscle and ligament related symptoms
  • Increase in back and neck pains

Most of these problems are caused by

  • Poor body mechanics while using the exercise equipment
  • No warm up/stretching prior to an exercise program
  • Rapidly increasing the resistance
  • Ignoring your limitations. Pre-existing muscle /joint problems
  • Inadequate supervision and/or instruct

How to Avoid injury

  • If you have any pre-existing spine, joint, muscle or other medical conditions, please consult a medical professional prior to enrolling in a fitness program
  • Do a warm up and stretching session prior to any physical activity
  • Make sure that your trainer/instructor is aware of your pre-existing health issues
  • Gradually increase the resistance per your tolerance or as advised by your trainer/instructor
